The Rite (2011). Spiritual Movie Review - Jacklyn A. Lo

Faith in God

The movie The Rite (2011) by director Mikael Håfström, is about a man’s agony in finding faith in God.

Spiritual Choice

The culmination of the film is the protagonist’s Spiritual Choice.

A spiritual choice comes to everyone at any particular period of one’s life.  As a result, a lot of doubts, confusion, and hesitation followed the decision-making.

In this movie, the protagonist Michael is at a higher level of consciousness than the average human. Therefore the Choice is going to be tough.

Choice of Light

An interactive physical reality plays strange games around him, so the protagonist starts to think he is going insane. Most importantly, his Choice of Light is not obvious to either himself or the movie’s audience.

to help people

However, after a long period of struggling with his inner self, Michael, with the help of other people and situations, makes his Choice to toward Light. As a result, he obtains Faith in God!

The chosen direction opens a new path for Michael – to help people.

In conclusion

This story is a great example of our Higher Brotherhood’s significant efforts to support our Choice for the Light!

Moreover, I like that the Church in this film is a powerful institution with spiritual intelligence and skills. Most importantly, it is ready to help people, which, unfortunately, is not always the case.
